About bekah
I’m a somatic therapist in Portland, Maine who works with adults in Maine via teletherapy and in-person. I also host occasional in-person retreats.
At the heart of my work is the belief that your body carries meaningful information about your experience—not problems to fix, but signals to understand. Depression, anxiety, overwhelm, or tension are not signs of weakness. They are adaptive responses shaped by your history and nervous system.
Somatic therapy emphasizes the mind–body connection. Together, we learn to notice what your body knows—sensations, rhythms, and patterns—and use that awareness to cultivate greater safety, choice, and regulation.
In our work together, we often:
Slow down enough to tune in
Learn skills that help the nervous system settle
Build capacity for sustainable resilience
Foster a more trusting relationship with your authentic self
I bring clinical training, somatic methods, and presence—but your body’s truth leads the work.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent a decade working in criminal legal system reform as a restorative justice facilitator and mediator. That work deeply shaped how I understand healing, accountability, and relationship, and it continues to inform how I hold space for complexity, pain, and transformation.
My approach is relational, somatic, and trauma-informed, grounded in neuroscience, attachment theory, mindfulness, and deep listening. I bring over fifteen years of mindfulness practice to my work and am a registered yoga teacher, which informs the embodied, present-centered nature of my therapy practice.
I work with adults who feel worn down by depression, anxiety, burnout, chronic fatigue, or trauma—and who sense there may be something more possible than simply coping. In our work, we relate to symptoms not as enemies to defeat, but as meaningful messengers pointing toward what needs care and attention.
Therapy with me is collaborative and paced with care. Together, we return—again and again—to presence, compassion, and connection, in service of a life that feels more grounded, meaningful, and alive.
